The bedslide table is a night table inspired by the Ulmer Hocker.

The bedside table offers an area for storing personal goods one might need before sleeping or after waking up. I have the habit of writing down thoughts in my notebook at the end of a day. Unlike the phone or a glass of water, I do not like to leave my diary lying around uncovered. So, I thought of a bedside table with space dedicated for one’s secrets.

It offers two placing areas; one on top which is always accessible and the second one can be slid underneath the bed for more space as well as privacy.

This furniture is made out of solid birch wood. All pieces are connected with a traditional method: the box joint. A solid beech wood edge is added to the bottom of the table. Beech harder than birch and it makes the whole piece more long-living and durable.

The Bedslide table is a narrow night table that can be partially slid underneath a bed.

One goal of this project is to practice wood working: from finding the right timber to cutting out the wood pieces, making box joints with millimetre precision, to assembling, sanding and finally finishing off the surface with wax.
